Shri B N Sarkar assumed
charge of the post of Chairman & Managing Director on the Board of CEL
w.e.f. 08.07.2019. He holds a B. Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from
NIT, Durgapur and Post Graduate in Computer Controlled Power System
and Drives from Indian Institute of Science (IISc),Bangalore. Prior to joining
the Government of India in Department of Scientific and Industrial Research
(DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology as Scientific Officer – II in 1990,
he worked in M/s Uptron Powertronics Limited, Sahibabad for three years as a
R&D Engineer. He is holding post of
Scientist – 'G' in the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and is
engaged in promotion of industrial research, technology development and
transfer. During this period, he has been involved in formulation of schemes
aimed at promoting industrial R&D expenditure, technology development and
demonstration of innovative products and processes with a view to improve
country's industrial competitiveness. He has been particularly engaged in
promoting innovative technology and has been instrumental in sensitising Indian
industries and R&D institutions towards increasing the technology content
in the products and services offered by them and enhancing country's technology
intensive exports.
In addition to that he
is holding Administrative In-charge of two PSEs of this Department namely
Central Electronics Limited (CEL), Sahibabad and National Research Development
Corporation (NRDC), New Delhi.
Ms. Jillelamudi Manjula
is on board of CEL as Part time official Director w.e.f. 21.12.2016. She is a
post graduate in Electronics and communication engineering with subject
specialization in Digital Systems. She initially served at Electronics
Corporation of India Limited, Hyderabad for a brief period where she was a
member of a team carrying out production engineering of HF Transceiver units
designed at UK, extensively employed by para military forces, disaster
management units, state police etc. She joined Defence R&D organization in
1987, at Defence Electronics Research Laboratory, Hyderabad and served there
for 26 years in various Electronic Warfare Projects of different magnitudes and
in various capacities. She is a recipient of DRDO Performance Excellence award
in 2006, Scientist of the year award in 2011, India Today's Woman in Science
award in 2014, AoC's Best Contributor in EW award in 2015, and Marie Curie
Mahila Vijnana Puraskara in 2015 from Swadeshi Vijnana Andolana - Karnataka.
She has many patent applications to the credit of her team.
Prof. Abhay Karandikar
is currently Director at IIT, Kanpur and joined the board of CEL as independent
director on 31.01.2017. Earlier, he served as Dean (Faculty Affairs) during
2017-18 at IIT, Mumbai. He was also the Head of the Department during 2012-15
and the first Professor-in-charge of IIT Bombay Research Park. He has been
driving several large initiatives both at national and at institute level. At
the national level, he was Chairman of India's first Telecom Standards
Development Organization- TSDSI. TSDSI is now part of 3GPP and also a member of
Global Standards Collaboration. TSDSI is expected to influence next general
telecom (especially wireless) standards through Indian requirements.
