CEL signs License Agreement with CSIR-NAL for Manufacturing and Marketing of Drishti Transmissometer
Central Electronics Limited, a Govt. of India Enterprise under Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology has signed a Licensed agreement with CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bengaluru for the Manufacturing and Marketing of Drishti Transmissometer, Indigenous - Innovative –Cost effective visibility measuring system, useful for airport operations and gives information to pilots on the visibility at the runway.
Designed by CSIR-NAL, Drishti is a technically superior and cost-effective product, suitable for all categories of Airports viz., CAT I, CAT II, CAT III A & B and measures visibility down to 4 meters. It is capable of handling both low (<4 meters) and high (>10000meters) visibility accurately and working continuously (365 x 24 hours) in harsh environmental conditions. Thus it is useful for safe airport operations by giving information to pilots on the visibility at the runway. The system involves state of the art technology, a significant contribution to the Field of Electronics and Airport Instrumentation. As a mandatory equipment under International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Transmissometer is required for safe landing and take-off operations at the Airports.
Till date, CSIR-NAL has fabricated 104 such systems and provided for successful operation at International Airports and Indian Air force bases across the country. The most stringent and crucial CAT IIIB airport of the country viz., Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi has 13 Drishti systems in all its 3 Runways.
Signed License Agreement provide the non-exclusive rights to CEL for production and commercialization of Drishti Transmissometer in India and Abroad.
National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), a constituent of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India, established in the year 1959 is the only government aerospace R&D laboratory in the country’s civilian sector. CSIR-NAL is a high-technology oriented institution focusing on advanced disciplines in aerospace. The mandate of CSIR-NAL is to develop aerospace technologies with strong science content, design and build small and medium-size civil aircraft and support all national aerospace programmes.
Central Electronics Limited is a Govt. of India Enterprise under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology. It was established in 1974 with an objective to commercially exploit indigenous technologies developed by National Laboratories and R&D Institutions in the country. CEL has developed a number of products for the first time in the country through its own R&D efforts and in close association with the premier National & International Laboratories including Defence Laboratories. In recognition of all these efforts, CEL has been awarded a number of times with prestigious awards including “National Award for R&D by DSIR”. CEL is pioneer in the country in the field of Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) and it has developed the technology with its own R&D efforts. Its Solar products have been qualified to International Standards IEC 61215/61730.
